"No..." The chocolate Labrador gasped, moth agape and eyes wide "This can't be happening... Master Louie can't be dead!"

Theodore sighed as he attempted to lick his burnt tail, which was proving to be impossible due to it's shortness "I'm sorry, Rach. He's gone, and so is the lab. We're on our own now."
Several shocked gasps ran amongst the pups, as did terror. Ramone, his proud fluffy coat shining, finally spoke out "What are we gonna do now, Theo?"

"I haven't got an idea." Theodore replied, defeated. "All I
know is that the people who killed our parents just found us, and killed Louie, too. They're after us, gang, and we need to get away as soon as possible."

"But, where are we gonna go, man?" Leonardo asked "To the city?"

"I suppose so." The golden retriever sighed, his green eyes quickly trailing to the bright lights of the city beyond the hills. "We'd be best off going somewhere really busy and populated. There's a lesser chance of being followed."

It was Mackenzie who now found the courage to question,"But... Like... Aren't we, like, gonna get lost? We've never been out of the labs."

"But we know the area around the laboratories. I think our goal should be to get away as fast as possible, as quick as possible." Theo replied to the dachshund "I think that if we get at least to the City beyond Remicana, we'll be fine. For now, anyway."

"What are we gonna do then, Theo?" Rachel snapped, clearly frustrated, "Are we going to live on the streets!? I don't want to be some kind of dirty street-dog for the rest of my life! We're just going to have to keep running away from them, aren't we?"

"Rach.. Look, we're going to be fine..."

"No, Theo! We are not! To them, we're just a load of stupid mongrels that can talk! Nothing more than some lab experiments gone wrong!"

And with that, the mocha pelted canine left the group. The pups looked at each other, all shaken by Rachel's spoken mind.
"Wait a second, guys." Theo finally sighed and ran after the blue-eyed she dog. "Rachel, wait!"

Rachel did not turn around. Instead, she seemed to trot away quicker. Theodore caught up, and gave her a sympathetic look "Rachel. Please."

"What!?"

"I know things are looking a bit tough right now..."

"Tough!? TOUGH!? You're kidding me, right?"

"Fine. A bit more than tough, but please. Hear me out."

Prussian blue eyes met toxic green "Go on."

"We can't give up hope. Our parents died to save us. So did Master Louie. Do you think they would have wanted us to simply give in to our doom? No. They went out fighting, and so will we. But for long as I live, Rachel I will give you my promise."

"Your promise?" The chocolate Labrador raised an eyebrow.

"One that I will keep for as long as I live. I promise our safety, and our well being Rachel. We'll be safe. We'll find ourselves a new home. For me, for you and for the rest of our... Pack. I promise."

Rachel scanned the retriever's honest face. Her heart warming with new hope "You really promise?"

"Cross my heart and hope to die." He smiled. ~ECHO, series one, The beginning.

After todays events I really wanted to post something more happy, as art helps to relax me quite a bit >.<
I hope the shading in this is okay. I tried a new method, and I hope it works.
The title is based on the song 'Attack' by Thirty Seconds to Mars. [link]
